Il Ristorante Battaglino ha 100 anni di storia e quattro generazioni sulle spalle.
Within the walls of Ristorante Battaglino, a century of history has played out, performed by four generations of one family. Our great-grandfather Ferroviere Sebastiano Battaglino first opened the doors in 1919, later ushering in his son Carlo, a passionate fan of opera. In the 1960s, he passed the baton to sons Beppe and Nino, also great lovers of music. The two brothers continued to feed and delight customers until 2015.
Today, Battaglino is conducted by Alessia, who grew up there among the family rhythms. She took her first steps in the restaurant kitchen, and later shared after-school lunches with anyone she found at the communal back table. Years later, she added a new beat to Battaglino, blending finely honed culinary skills with her dedication to natural cuisine, dishes made within macrobiotic principles and containing no animal-based ingredients. This new mix—classic, Piemontese gastronomy and contemporary attention to ethical, healthful agriculture—characterize the two-spirit energy of Ristorante Battaglino.
In 2018, Alessia’s partner Michele Martinelli joined the business. As curator of the restaurant’s wine list, he focuses his attention on excellent bottles with qualities that meet one very stringent criterion: Would he drink this wine himself? Together, Alessia and Michele put their talents toward creating distinctive and delicious events: Wine-Centered meals, Natural Dinners, “Four-Handed” Menus with guest chefs, and other activities that bring people together in their lively and convivial dining room.
