1) Bra City
Bra, situated ad Roero borders, is not just the historical center with
renewed XX Settembre place, baroque churches, museums devoted to history and
science as the one titled at Craveri bros, but also the wonderfull hill
sorrounding the city filled with nice villas, from which can be seen the
panorama of valleys going towards the Tanaro river and the plate
driving to Alba. Inside historical center roads is very interesting take
a look at inner yards and artisans shops, once beating heart of the city.
More on outskirts old buildings where tanneris, main city encomies until
50 years ago. An intellectual deeply rooted city with firts caliber subjects:
brothers Craveru, scientis and travelers along ´800, thru Velso Mucci, author of
well knowned "L´Uomo di Torino" of big and never forgotten
Giovanni
Arpino. Bra, a lovable city during nightime too, going for a walkthrough
deeply in city hall silence along corso Garibaldi and the '800 side
lit by nite lamps, which gave an unreal atmosphere.
Or along the old Umberto street, looking the old military pole deep in
the autmumn fogs, finally exiting on the new Politema Theather in the
big Carlo Alberto place.
In the farest corner the Battaglino restaurant shows itself. Once there,
perhaps you frost, mr. Beppe will host you, as he says, with a good hot dish. But what a dish !
2) Città di Cherasco.
Visit in Cherasco:
not just monuments, shows, flea markets, but full immersion in the no time and relaxing atmosphere
of the big and ordered historical center, and his immediate outskirtses:
bastions, avenues, Rio Crosio, Vineyards.
Panorama opens, around, on Maritim Alps, Cozie and Graie, and in some very clean morings,
thru the Monte Rosa; on the first coast of Langa, of La Morra, green hills of Over Stura.

Città
di Alba.
Historical center very important and of modern life..
To visit: gothic cathedral and some baroque churches, the long Via Maestra,
in middle of every century buildings, and interesting shops.
Very curious the saturday morning market.
4)Le Langhe.
The big hilled area can be visited for one or more days: low Langhe, wineyards and castles,
followed by high langa made of woods and towers.
All that offers a plenty of unforgettable visions, almost in autumn, where red and yellow tones wins.

I Roeri.
Uneven and woody hills, very suggestive, are on left side of Tanaro.
Almost twenty suburbs are rocked with his castles, fine conserved and
often very elengants (Monticello, Guarene,
Govone, Magliano, Santa Vittoria, Sommariva Perno), surrounded by wineyards and woods.
6) Saluzzo and Manta.
Half an hour by car, a wonderfull gotic-piedmontese pole: the capitol of the Marchesato of Saluzzo,
opened to suggestions and reform of provenza's poetry, still has all the
1200 city plan, made by red brick and alps rocks.
Interesting: cathedral, St. John church, Casa Cavassa, the Castiglia.
From the top of the hill, the majestic monviso seeing explains, better than books,
a certain seriousity of piedmont character.
The Monviso appears in the Paramount logo, inspired by the house pictire of two guys from
Saluzzo emigrants in Hoolywood.
Few kilometers facing north, the Staffarda Abbey, fine conserved, remembers rhitms and ways
of country life serving medieval age monks.
On the south side, Manta Castle has frescoes dated 1200 showing the freestyle of a Court of
international gothic: fountain of the youth, and Heroes room.
7) Mondovì e
Vicof orte.
Medieval city, finished in baroque age, has been subject of early discover: the
ancient nucleus, on an high hill, has buildings, churches
and big monuments: Duomo, Mission Church, Civic Tower;
further it give a vast panorama on Langhe annd Cuneo plan.
The near Santuario di Vicoforte, is a powerful example of piedmont-baroque architecture,
covered by the biggest elliptical dome in the worldm frescoed, altars and princes tombs.
8 ) Torino.
Region capital, has been Italy capital too, has on a bigger scale all the
territory characters: architectonical fashion, discreet ways,
operative strength, pleasures of small and private cults.
The Old city lives inside the new disticts as a precious
architectonical flower: places and gardens, buildings
like a small miniaturized Paris, but more liveable.
Dont miss: real complex of Piazza Castello, Piazza
San Carlo, Palazzo Carignano, Castello del Valentino, and Museums:
Egizio, Galleria Sabauda, Armeria Reale, of the Cinema (inside Mole
Antonelliana).
Then, walkthrough under archery and a small lunch in the splendid Caffè Baratti.

Sabaude Abodes.
Declared "Humanity Patrimony " by UNESCO,
surrounds Torino, showing the power of a very politic pearl at Euroepan level.
We suggest::
- Stupinigi:
Hunting Palace, of a refined and whimsical Baroque;
- Venaria
Reale, Kingplace of Venaria and Savoia. Art, magnificent and history of an european court.
- Racconigi,
Castlel, neoclassical shaped, with bug park with lemon trees of King Carlo Alberto;
- Casotto,
Castle, hidden in the green of alps woods over Mondovi.
10) Cuneo.
Province main city, as Cherasco, was a fortress on a plan border ;
all ways opened to the near Maritims Alps. Interesting the Via Maestra
which, started as medieval Via Roma,
opens in the new-renascimental Piazza Galimberti,
going to the liberty styled Via Nizza.
All the way, arched both sides, has Caffè and so ancient shops.
San Francesco group and his museum are very rich.
11) Literary Parks.
Langhe are the occ asion
to have an in-site re-read of Pavese and Fenoglio
For Pavese we havo to go in Santo Stefano Belbo and muscat langas, for the
more masculine and Hemigwayan Fenoglio, the Alba areas.
Cherasco is an intimate small literary park for Gina Lagorio fans.
Local synagogue, noted in the "Il
Giardino dei Finzi Contini", by Giorgio Bassani.
Asti, Magliano and Revigliasco has a lot of memories about Vittorio Alfieri.

Military Discoverings.
So suggestive all the medioeval military fortresses: plenty
of romanic-gothic castles remembers, in all the province,
the defense fragmentations of these centuries.
Cherasco and Cuneo still has 1400 Bastions parts.
The Cittadella di Torino, imposing itself, has a nice Artillery museum.
In Valle Stura, north of Cuneo, the Forte di Vinadio locks path to french; as the incredible Fenestrelle Fortress, in middle Val Chisone; as the very high Forti di Tenda.
Millesimo, Cosseria and Degor remembers the napoleonic enterprise of 1796.
Staffarda has been theatre of a very bloody battle at start of '700.
Bunker and trenches are in all valleys facing france.
The best readable war field, from Cherasco bastions, is the one of Pollenzo,
where in 402 a.c., Stilicone, roman general, won last time barbarians, Alaricos's Visigots
But the best remembering of WWII is the big rock fortress caved and built on the top of the
sulla cima del Monte
Chaberton (3170 meters, high Valle of Susa): eight cannon towers
one underground barrack, one air cable transport, steps, docks, all to have
a supersolid complex, project side, but exploded by french on the
very first day of war.
Only reachable by feet.

Alpine Excursions.
Valleys that spread like a fan with center in Cueno aread, in their high sections (90 mi s
by car), offers excursionists places with different difficulty.
Signalized paths, refuges, lakes, wild nature, panorams, flowers.

- Cherasco Moon phases clock: of 1500, indicate moonphases;
- Torre del Moro di Mondovì: same than venice tower
- Gothic Dogliani Cemetery: seen at sunset, or with moon, remembers Draculas atmospeheres or Frankestein creature;
- Pollenzo Place: as the Dogliani Cemetery;
- Pesio Chartreuse: inside fresh woods of Valle Pesio, a monastic complex of great interest;
- San Fiorenzo di Bastia: small church covered by terrific frescoes, claming at Dante's Inferno;
- Ciciu della Valle Maira: earth's pinnacles eroded by the waters regent rocks of stone;
- Stock Oasis of Racconigi: complex of lakes and greenfields with a big community of storks and other birds;
- Parco fluviale di Morozzo: sul Pesio, good for
bird-watching;
- Valle delle Meraviglie: prehistoric sanctuary in high Valle Roya, plenty of graves;
- Bossea Cave : si deep and long natural cave, full of profonda e lunghissima caverna, rich in
stalactites and stalagmites, with waterfall and lakes;
- Buco
del Viso: oldest and ancient tunnel of Europe, done by Saluzzo's in year 1300, altimetri 2900 mts, for salt carriage by mule

Incredible Valle Roya.
Less than two hours by car, we reach Valle Roya, corridor from Piedmont to Liguria and nowadays
for the
Cote
D'Azur.
A canyon 40 km long, deep and narrow, with some suburbs like
La Brigue, Saorge, Tenda, all with natural architecture, surrounded by olive trees.

A splash in the Big World.
With a one day trip, the fabulous Montecarlo,
a bit disney-like but with a particolar fashion.
17) Sacra
di San Michele and Novalesa.
at 70 kilometers, in precipice above Valle di Susa, on a top of a mountain,
car reachable, the Sacra dominate all Piedmont. Is the more
ancient regional abbey, built in Carlo Magno age, a bit in the
rock and a bit with the rock. It understands the church the
convent, arches, sky going archs, princely tombs,
towers, walls and cemetery, altogether fascinating and terrible.
Twenty kms more, the Novalesa Abbey has pre romanic frescoes. Monks works with ancient books restoring.
18) ASTI.
One our more stands Asti, romanic city, then medioeval city and baroque city, has churches, buildings and towers of notable beauty.

To the sea in one day.
Just 90 kms by freeway, we have a city well known for marine architecture
and sought gastronomy NOLI,
ancient "Repubblica marinara", treated in the Divina Commedia.
The suburb, entire and curious, is dominated by a convent and from the castle, on two gulfs. Shops, fishes, ice creams.
